As you know there are many layers to each Pilates exercise. Each time you do a Pilates exercise there is the potential to find something new about the exercise or your body. In this workshop, we will look in-depth at the details and elements of the Reformer exercises. This workshop is pure technique training; we will not modify the exercises and we will not build the exercises up. Using the framework of a “typical” advanced Reformer workout we will move from exercise to exercise, from detail to detail. Handouts will be provided.

The Feldenkrais Method provides a way to tap into the brain’s innate ability to change neural pathways in order to make movements, and in fact life, more comfortable and efficient. This workshop will give you the ability to sense subtle changes in your own organization via verbally directed awareness cues. In these progressive movement lessons, Valerie will use a combination of enjoyable micro movements and guided attention in successive approximations toward a final goal, in this case, smooth and easy spinal articulation.

The process will teach you to reduce unnecessary muscular effort improving the organization of your whole system. Focusing on sensory learning culminates in movements that are more flexible, and free from pain. The lessons are simple and accessible to everyone from the most accomplished athlete to those suffering from severe physical and mental handicaps. The results can be extraordinary! In this all-day workshop, we will examine how the functional units of the body connect to the core. You will experience exercises for each unit separately and then we will put it all together.
